Technique:
Jamdani sarees, originating from Bengal (Bangladesh and West Bengal, India), are known for their intricate handloom weaving technique. These sarees are crafted from fine cotton or a cotton-silk blend and feature detailed, symmetrical motifs like flowers, paisleys, and geometric shapes. The supplementary weft technique is used, where the designs are woven into the base fabric using small shuttles of colored threads. Creating a Jamdani saree is labor-intensive, often taking months to complete. They hold cultural significance, especially in Bengali traditions, and have a Geographical Indication (GI) tag for authenticity.
